Bathroom Trends 2021

After the unprecedented year of 2020 and as we move into 2021, we look at the trends and the changes affecting the bathroom industry this year.

With over 4 decades of manufacturing experience, at Trojan, we understand that wider influences impact how we live our lives and how products must adapt to suit the changing needs of our consumer.

Due to the uncertainty of last year, many of 2021’s trends have been affected or influenced by the ways in which we now have to live our lives.

As we moved through last year, we saw a huge increase in Wellness trends, with many now looking after both themselves and their families that little bit more.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, 50% of employed adults are now seeing themselves working from home, meaning that the majority desire a bathroom that truly provides a safe haven to relax and unwind at the end of a long day.

In addition, with the retail and hospitality industries effectively shut down, many families are now spending their disposable incomes on renovations at home, with a staggering 76% of homeowners spending an average of £4,035.70 on their homes during lockdown.

At Trojan, we have always understood that our baths provide a relaxing space for you to sit back and unwind. Our collections help create a haven, whatever the size of your bathroom or personal style. And, for extra relaxation, our Aquair range of spa and whirlpool baths offer hydrotherapy – a proven therapeutic method of using water to relieve stress and tension.

Over the last 10 years, there has been a dramatic increase year on year in the number of multigenerational households, with one in three now co-inhabiting with either their elderly parents or grown-up children. This has only been exacerbated by the pandemic as many elderly relatives were forced to move in with families and grown up children returned home.

This means that whilst style is important, functionality needs to be a key consideration for consumers in order to ensure their bathrooms are functional for all their family’s needs.
Our range of easy access baths, showers and accessories includes sleek, low-threshold baths that allow for comfortable, independent and safe bathing and showering - without compromising on design.

As a business, sustainability constantly remains at the forefront of our design and manufacturing. This means that all Trojan products are made in the Britain, with our materials sourced locally and ethically.

As we move into 2021, will we see an increase in the number of sustainable homes available, with reports suggesting plans are set for an additional 1.5 million new UK homes to be built with low-carbon, energy and water efficiency by 2022.

As consumers become more eco-conscious, a recent Mori poll suggests that nine in ten buyers look for a sustainable home and will pay extra if they are convinced their new home could be low on energy bills but high on design.

Finally, and still following on from the circumstances of 2020, the number of those over 50 who are experiencing loneliness has become extremely prevalent and is set to reach two million by 2025.

In order to combat this problem, co-housing communities, where residents may share facilities such as green spaces and washing facilities are becoming ever more popular.

At Trojan, we have a collection to suit every budget and style. From our luxurious freestanding baths to our compact shower baths, you can trust Trojan to provide outstanding products, without ever compromising on style or quality.
