Because every body should be able to enjoy a relaxing bath

Whilst many of us don’t think twice before we jump in the shower or take a soak in the bath at the end of a long day, for those suffering with pain and disability, just doing a normal everyday thing like relaxing in the bath can be a difficult, or even impossible task.

At Trojan, we believe that everybody should be able to enjoy and relax in a bath, which is why we developed Bathe Easy; our range of specialised low-threshold baths and supporting accessories, designed for independent living. From our walk-in L Shaped Solarna shower bath, to the Serenity bath, our advanced walk-in deep soak bath perfect for smaller spaces, to Marcella and Liberty with powered traverse seats, Bathe Easy has been designed to provide an easy and comfortable bathing experience for every body.

Below, we explore some of the latest UK health news and statistics that are crucial for anybody looking to sell or buy a Bathe Easy product; our product range is needed by so many more people than you would imagine…

One increasingly common problem is back pain – which is now the largest cause of disability in the UK; with lower back pain alone accounting for 11% of the total disability of the UK population. From sciatica to ruptured discs, back pain has many causes and over the last 20 years, there has been a 12% increase in how likely a person is to experience disability as a result of lower back pain.

There is a trend in the occurrence of moderate to severely disabling chronic pain with increasing age from 14.3% in 18–25 years old, to 62% in the over 75 age group, although studies have shown that chronic pain in 18–39 years old could be as high as 30%.

On average, people suffering from back pain or a musculoskeletal disorder in the UK will lose 13.8 days of work per year. Statistics show that 2.6. million people get advice from their GP each year for their back pain, there is an increase in referrals for spinal surgery, and a greater need for rehabilitation – which can sometimes be poor and variable.

Soaking in a warm bath is one of the oldest and safest forms of complementary therapy for pain and mobility and as it can help loosen joints and relieve aching muscles. Immersion, buoyancy, heat, and vibration (if you have jets) all have biological and sensory effects, that can be helpful to those not only suffering from injury and pain, but can help with anxiety, depression, and more.

With Bathe Easy, practicality and style are combined, to provide a usable yet beautiful bathroom. Acknowledging a variety of needs, Bathe Easy baths and full product range, are built to last with carefully considered aesthetics ensuring our products are suitable for all bathrooms and every body.
