TROJAN AND SWISSGRIP UNITE TO ADVANCE SAFER, ACCESSIBLE BATHING IN THE UK

As part of our ambition to advance accessible, safer bathing, Trojan has partnered with SWISSGriP to bring their world-leading, certified anti-slip coating directly to our customers in the UK.
Trojan Simply No Slip powered by SWISSGriP is a DIY anti-slip treatment kit developed in partnership with SWISSGriP, a leading world specialist in anti-slip coatings. The kit applies a durable, protective coating to any acrylic or gel coat surfaces, as well as steel enamel and cast iron, resulting in a DIN EN 16165 Class C certification, the gold standard for slip resistance.
The coating also provides antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antifungal protection, making it ideal for reducing the risk of bathroom slips and falls while maintaining hygiene.
With 11 million people in the UK aged 65 and over, there is growing demand across sanitaryware trade markets for innovative products which cater to an ageing population.

Why do anti-slip solutions matter?
Bathrooms are one of the highest-risk areas in the home for slips and falls. In fact, a 2023 survey found that out of 1,000 UK residents surveyed, 82.2% have experienced a slip in the shower. Because wet, smooth surfaces create everyday hazards, anti-slip coating is a vital offering for distributors, merchants and showrooms.
Another 2023 survey revealed that only 32% of people stated that they religiously use an anti-slip mat in the shower, with most of the nation choosing to shower without, because it ‘ruins the aesthetic’ of the bathroom (21.6%), it’s ‘an additional thing to clean trapped dirt’ (50.6%) or they simply ‘don’t like the feel of them’ (27.5%). These findings highlight the need for more aesthetic, practical and accessible anti-slip solutions in the UK bathroom market. Customers increasingly prefer a seamless, aesthetically pleasing anti-slip solution over the bulkier, less reliable alternatives.
How are we catering for the ageing population?
As the UK’s population ages, the demand for high-quality, certified bath and shower products grows. Reduced mobility increases the risk of slips, trips and falls, with around 220,160 emergency hospital admissions related to falls among patients aged 65 and over between 2017 and 2018. The risk of this becomes even more significant in smooth, wet environments like bathrooms. Merchants, showrooms and developers are therefore prioritising safety-led designs which are permanent and low-maintenance.
