Trojan expands operations with £750k investment, relocation, and 26 new roles

As well as investment into our brand-spanking new website, Trojan has also made a strategic investment of £750,000 into our shower tray division, Traymate.

The money will be focused on expanding our Traymate division, which specialises in producing high-quality, gel coat shower trays. This expansion follows Traymate’s relocation to Huddersfield last May, and its integration with Trojan in January 2024. For us, this step is not only about growth; it’s about building on our commitment to British manufacturing, quality, and innovation.

The move to consolidate Traymate’s operations here in Yorkshire has been instrumental in bringing our teams closer together, enhancing efficiency, and setting the stage for greater production capacity. Previously based in Essex, Traymate became part of our family when it was acquired by Hartford Holdings Group in 2021. Since then, we’ve worked to fully integrate Traymate’s design-focused, minimalist shower trays into our high standards of manufacturing. The new Traymate facility—a spacious, 46,000-square-foot building on a three-acre site—has allowed us to create 26 new jobs right here in Huddersfield, strengthening our local community and bringing fresh talent into the Trojan family.

Our recent investment has gone directly into new, cutting-edge equipment, such as master and production moulds, enclosed gel coat spray booths, and an additional casting and packing machine. These upgrades are central to our aim of boosting output without compromising on quality—enabling us to meet the demands of a growing market while upholding the craftsmanship and precision that Trojan is known for.

We’re also thrilled to welcome David Dickinson as Traymate’s Operations Manager. With over 20 years in engineering and operations, primarily in the automotive sector, David is focused on bringing new efficiencies and additional quality standards to Traymate’s production processes. “Recruiting, training, and retaining a motivated team has been a challenge,” David says, “but we now have an excellent core team dedicated to driving the Traymate division forward in what’s an incredibly positive environment.”

Reflecting on our investment and plans for growth, managing director David Mosley shares, “The transition of Traymate to Huddersfield and the investment into new equipment and team members marks an exciting phase for Trojan. As we near our 50th anniversary, our focus remains on innovation, quality, and British manufacturing excellence. We’re proud to be part of a new era for Traymate and for Trojan, as we work to deliver the best of British bathroom products to customers worldwide.”

Founded in 1975, Trojan has grown into one of Europe’s most respected bath manufacturers, and the integration of Traymate further strengthens our position as a comprehensive bathware supplier. This investment is part of our ongoing mission to advance sustainable, high-quality production for decades to come.
